What size banner do I need

A 3 x 6 foot banner is a useful starting point for a storefront, church entrance or school event, while 4 x 8 or 4 x 10 suits a fence, lot or stage. A 2 x 4 fits many trade show table fronts. Choose letters about 1 inch tall per 10 feet of viewing distance; our 3 x 6 banner is $41.99 with hems and grommets included.

Measure the usable mounting area

Measure between the actual attachment points, not just the total wall or fence width. Leave space for ties, rope or hardware beyond the finished edges. The first number in each size is the height in feet and the second is the width: a 3 x 6 banner is 72 inches wide and 36 inches high. Check door clearance, fence posts and sprinkler lines before choosing.

A table front is a close reading placement, so a 2 x 4 banner can carry a name and short offer. A 2 x 6 works on a wider table or narrow railing when its measured width fits. Do not let a table banner drag on the floor or cover access needed by visitors.

Match a size to the setting

For a storefront or church front, start with 3 x 6 and check the entrance width. A chain link fence often suits 4 x 8. A car dealership lot may need 4 x 10 for a short headline visible across parked cars. These are starting choices, not measurements of your property; the best size is the one that fits the mounting space and the intended reading distance.

A school gym often uses 3 x 8 for a message across the room. A stage backdrop may use 4 x 10, although a large stage can need more coverage than our available sizes. Measure the visible area behind the speakers, including people and equipment, rather than assuming a banner will cover the whole stage.

Letter height is the visibility limit

Use approximately 3 inch letters at 30 feet, 6 inch letters at 60 feet and 10 inch letters at 100 feet. The guideline is 1 inch per 10 feet. High contrast and a short headline help; fine contact details need a closer viewer. For a lot or roadside fence, choose a larger headline rather than squeezing in financing terms, hours and several phone numbers.

Keep supporting information separate from the main message. A large SALE headline can be readable across a lot while the dates are only readable nearby. If every line must be read from 100 feet, each needs space for roughly 10 inch letters, which quickly limits the amount of copy.

Plan the installation before the artwork

All sizes use 13 oz scrim vinyl with hems on four sides and brass grommets every 2 feet. Choose fence ties, suitable wall hardware or a pole arrangement before ordering. Optional pole pockets are top and bottom; confirm the pole diameter and layout before choosing them. Keep key text away from edges and attachment points so the finished installation does not obscure it.
