Coroplast
4 mm fluted polypropylene. An 18 x 24 sign weighs a few ounces, is waterproof and slides straight onto an H stake through its flutes. It flexes in wind instead of bending permanently. The print typically lasts 1 to 2 years in full sun. It costs a fraction of aluminum, which is why real estate, campaigns, events and contractors use it.
Aluminum
Usually 0.040 or 0.063 inch sheet. It is rigid, will not flex or flutter, and with a laminated face lasts many years outdoors. It cannot take an H stake through its edge, so it needs a frame, a post or screws into a wall. It dents if hit and costs several times more per sign. It suits permanent property, parking and regulatory signs.
When to pick each
Pick coroplast for anything temporary or moved around: open houses, listings, campaigns, job sites, sales, events and celebrations. Pick aluminum for a sign that stays bolted in one place for three years or more. If you need aluminum, a local sign shop is the right call, because we do not print it.
